Day 1

ARRIVAL IN ANTANANARIVO (TANA).

Meeting at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Rest and recreation.

Overnight at Relais des Plateaux.

Day 2

TANA TO MAROANTSETRA (FLIGHT).

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning flight to Maroantsetra to the northeast. Afternoon boat trip on Antainambalana river for wildlife viewing (birds, frogs, chameleons).

Overnight at Manga Beach Hotel.

Day 03

MAROANTSETRA TO MASOALA NATIONAL PARK (SPEEDBOAT TRIP)

Breakfast at the hotel. Boat ride to Masoala peninsula. Introductory walk into the Masoala primary rainforest in search of rare red-ruffed lemurs endemic to this area. Chances to see white-fronted brown lemurs, rare birds species such as helmet vanga, short-legged ground roller, Bernier’s Vanga…Lunch at the hotel. Afternoon to discover the surrounding rainforest and enjoy the unique brown sand beach. Chance to see Madagascar pratincole or serpent eagle on the horizon…

Overnight at Masoala Forest Lodge.

Day 04

MASOALA NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast at the hotel. Whole to visit Masoala National Park to discover the beauty of this threatened pristine rainforest that touches the ocean. Hikes in the largest rainforest in Madagascar allow you to encounter otherworldly creatures such as the well-camouflaged leaf-tailed gecko. Lunch at the hotel. Late afternoon show by welcoming local people from whom local crafts can be purchased to support local economy.

Day 05

MASOALA TO MAROANTSETRA VIA NOSY MANGABE (SPEEDBOAT TRIP)

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning boat ride to Nosy Mangabe, home to black and white ruffed lemurs and white-fronted brown lemurs and an endemic stump-tailed chameleons and a mantella frog species. Lunch on Nosy Mangabe. Afternoon speedboat trip back to Maroantsetra. Possible night walk around the hotel in search of mouse lemurs, tenrec, endemic reptiles.

Day 06

MAROANTSETRA – TAMATAVE (FLIGHT) – IVOLOINA PARK

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport to meet your short flight to the nearby port city of Toamasina. Check into your luxurious hotel. Lunch at a good local restaurant. Afternoon trip to Ivoloina Park home to at least 11 lemur species and reptiles, frogs…Chance to see an aye aye, the elusive strange-looking nocturnal lemur species.

Day 07

TAMATAVE – AKANIN’NY NOFY (RIVER BOAT TRIP)

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by car to “Le Port Fluvial” for a beautiful 3-hour boat ride along the manmade Pangalannes channel to Akanin’ny Nofy, a resort village surrounded by gorgeous lakes overlooking the Indian Ocean. Lunch at the hotel. Afternoon walk along the lake in search of an interesting pitcher plant. Chance to see Madagascar crocodiles.

Day 08

ANKANIN’NY NOFY TO THE PALMARIUM

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning easy walk into The Palmarium, a private nature reserve teeming with fascinating animal species including lemur species. Afternoon visit of the nearby beautiful village and the beach. Lunch at the hotel.

Day 09

ANKANIN’NY NOFY – ANDASIBE (BOAT TRIP +DRIVE)

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning trip to Andasibe Tana by passing through Rasoamasay and Rasoabe Lakes and the picturesque National Road 2. Lunch in Andasibe. Check into your lodge. A night walk in the park in search of endemic animal species including mouse lemurs, leaf-tailed geckos, chameleons, insects, frogs, etc.

Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge.

Day 10

ANDASIBE

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit of Andasibe National Park (also known as Analamazaotra) home of Madagascar’s largest lemur species, the indri indri and 11 other diurnal and nocturnal species. Lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the Orchid Park. Afternoon visit of the private “Lemur’s Island” to encounter several lemur species including common brown, black and white ruffed…Chance to see the fosa, the famous lemurs’ predator. Another guided night walk in the park to discover more nocturnal lemurs.

Overnight at Vakona Forest Lodge.

Day 11

ANDASIBE TO TANA

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive back to Tana. Lunch en route. Afternoon visit of the Lemur’s Park outside Tana to observe at least 9 lemur species and other fascinating endemic fauna and flora. Overnight at Royal Palissandre Hotel & Spa.

Day 12

TANA – FLY OUT

Leisurely breakfast at the hotel. After check out, visit of the Queen’s Palace to the upper town then drive to the Ivato airport to meet your flight back home. Stop en route at La Digue craft market for souvenir shopping.
